Although Beagle type dogs have existed for 2500 years the modern breed was developed in Britain around the 1830’s from several breeds.

 

Beagles are very intelligent and have a great sense of smell and tracking instinct that sees them employed as detection dogs for prohibited imports around the world.

 

The Beagle is loving, gentle and happy to see everyone; greeting them with a wagging tail; excellent with children and other dogs. Owners must be cautious with non-canine pets due to their hunting instincts.
