The Grey Wolf also known as the Timber Wolf is a native of North America and Eurasia. Compared to it’s closest wild cousins (the Coyote and Jackal) the Grey Wolf is larger and more powerfully built.

 

Their winter fur is highly resistant to cold; they can rest comfortably in open areas at -40  by placing their musles between their rear legs and covering the face with their tail.

 

Although they are called Grey Wolves, these ancestors of domestic dogs actually range in colour from brownish-grey, to black, to all white.
