Greyhounds are one of the oldest breeds in history. These noble dogs have been traced back over 4000 years to early cave drawings and are the only breed mentioned in the Bible. By giving a Greyhound a home, you are taking on a true thoroughbred and a breed that has been “mans’ best friend” for thousands of years.

 

Known as the world’s fastest “couch potato”, the Greyhound is calm, quiet, extremely well-behaved and eager to please. They are extremely tolerant of other pets if raised with them. They are sensitive and sometimes timid with strangers. Outdoors they will chase anything that moves.

 

The Greyhound needs daily exercise, but take on board it is a sprinter rather than a long distance runner and can easily run into danger at great speed unless exercised in a safe area.

 

Greyhounds love creature comforts and must have soft bedding and warmth. They should not be expected to live outside. The coat is easy to care for needing only the occasional brushing to remove dead hair.
