Barn Owl - The Barn Owl is one of the most widespread of all birds in the world occurring in every continent except Antarctica and Desert regions.

Its nest is usually in a hollow tree or old building where it can protect its eggs and young from predators.

Like most owls, the Barn Owl is nocturnal, relying on acute sense of hearing and the ability to see movement in very little light when hunting for small animals; often active shortly before dusk and can be seen occasionally during the day when relocating from one roosting site to another.

Snowy Owl - The ghostlike Snowy Owl has unmistakeable white plumage that echoes its Arctic origins.

These magnificent owls nest on the ground. The female scrapes a small hollow before laying her eggs.

The Snowy Owl is a patient hunter that perches and waits to identify its prey before soaring off in pursuit. They have keen eyesight and great hearing which can help them find prey that is invisible under thick vegetation. They hunt and are active in both day and night unlike most owls which are nocturnal.

Tawny Owl - The Tawny Owl is one of the most common and widespread owls in Europe and perhaps the commonest bird of prey in Britain.

It is the owl of fairy tales who “tu-whit, tu-whoo” of the night has become part of our heritage.

Its nest is usually in a tree hole where it can protect its eggs and young from predators.

Although many people believe this owl has exceptional night vision. In reality it is not much different to that of a human being. It has however excellent directional hearing which is key to its hunting of rodents.
