The modern breed of Siberian Husky is said to be descended from dogs kept by the Chukchis, a group of people living in north east Siberia. It was introduced to Alaska in 1908 and used as a sled-dog during the gold rush.

 

Siberian Huskies are pack dogs, and need an owner who will establish who the leader of the pack is. Nonetheless, they can be charming with their playful and mischievous nature, and make wonderful companions but always remember that the Husky is a sled dog in heart and soul.
