Labrador

The early breed of what is now the Labrador Retriever was known as the St. John’s Water Dog. When these dogs were brought to Britain they were named after the geographic area where they “retrieved” in the Labrador Sea. Originally they were used to help fishermen haul their nets from the chilly north Atlantic.

The Labrador is one of the best all round dogs in the world. Not only used for retrieving game, but also works in the world of assistance dogs and sniffer dogs for drug and firearms detection.

Labradors have a great reputation with children of all ages and other animals as a very even tempered breed and an excellent family pet.
